Abby's first food

We fed Abby her first solid food yesterday! We started with oatmeal cereal. Our former-teacher-now-friend Amy Jo is here (more about that in a future blog post) and she was able to take pictures for us. Abby was a little hesitant and unimpressed at first, but by the end she was reaching for the spoon and pulling it towards her. We knew this girl would have a healthy appetite! Looking at these pictures, I guess we didn't let her go crazy and get all messy like typical first food pictures. Our apologies.

Now for Robert's turn.

First food = success!

Fun with Cora

We had a fun time playing in Abigail's room this afternoon because her buddy Cora came to visit. I love how Abby's face lights up when she sees Cora.

Strrrrretch! Kitty is way up high on the shelf.

Abby can now roll in any direction like it's nothing.

We think she's getting close to learning how to crawl, too.

She chews on anything and everything, including her own tongue.

She's saying, "momma, enough pictures already."

Forgive me, I just can't get enough of these tiny little toes.

face time

Abby enjoys checking out our faces lately. She leans in close to (not very gently!) touch our cheeks, grab our nose and poke our eyes. Here she is playing with her daddy.

In other news, Abby has been sitting up unassisted for about a week or so, I think? Such big stuff! I finally remembered to take a picture for documentation. She can stay up for a good 5 to 10 minutes before she tips backwards.

I'll leave you with a few more photos of our sleeping beauty. I just can't resist sneaking in while she naps and taking these! I love hearing her quiet little baby breaths. As you can see in the second photo, she continues to love her Dolly.

this and that

I have some random pictures from my phone I thought I'd share today.

Here's Abby's preferred sleep position lately. It makes us laugh!

This little girl certainly loves to sleep. She takes 3 naps a day -- sometimes up to 2 and 1/2 hours for one of them! -- and then sleeps a good 11 or so hours (straight) overnight. She always wakes up very happy and will start "singing" if it takes a few minutes for mommy to come get her. She still very rarely cries. Is this baby for real?!

Here's the post-nap greeting Robert and I usually see when we go in to get her.

We received this mail the other day and I was amused. Really?!

Our friend Erin gave Abigail this cute octopus when she was born. She loves it!

We had to buy Abby new 12 month jammies because she is so long. They're a little snug on the thighs. ;) Here are a few pictures from two happy mornings last week.

Ha! Oh, Florida.

See her tongue sticking through? Abby covers EVERYTHING with excessive drool lately. Surely we'll be seeing a tooth or two very soon?

Happy Easter!

It's only 9:30 on Easter morning and somehow we've already made it to church and back. We took Abigail to the nursery for the very first time today. She cried when we dropped her off but they said she was fine shortly after.

Thanks, Nana, for the beautiful Easter dress and flower headband! My mom and I were shopping at Burlington Coat Factory when she visited over Spring Break, and mom was drawn to this polka dot dress for Abby. It has a little spunk, no? Then we stumbled across the ridiculously oversized -- but ridiculously adorable -- flower headband and realized they matched perfectly. How could we resist?!

Wishing you Easter joy today!

Thanks, Robert, for getting some good mommy/daughter photos!

And here comes another happy Abby photo shoot.

Why, hello. My name is Abby and I am adorable.

Here's Abby's first Easter basket. It was filled with eggs and a board book.
