Abby was so excited about Nana & Papa's arrival on the 20th. We hadn't seen them since their visit over the summer. To help pass the last bit of time, Abby decorated the envelopes on some of our Christmas cards...
...and we did some more painting.
Then they were here! Papa was eager to see Abby's new wheels.
We tried out the new Mini Doughnut Factory for breakfast on Tuesday. Abby and I both liked the "Homer Simpson" donuts best -- the ones with pink (strawberry) frosting and sprinkles. See the maple and bacon ones on the right? The chocolate peanut butter ones were super rich and delicious. I loved the Boston cream, too.
It isn't Christmas until you make sugar cookies. Marci and Paula, these flour dusted noses are for you. With love!
Abby was excellent help this year. I think her Play-Doh cookie cutters have given her some good practice.
The snowflake cookie cutter was her favorite.
Sadly, I didn't get any pictures of the finished product but I think they turned out beautifully. I outlined them with white frosting, let that dry, and then filled them in so that they were nice and neat and drip-less. Then we finished them off with sparkly sugar sprinkles. I also put 1/4 tsp. of almond extract in the icing this year and we all agreed that it was delicious.
Next up: the trek to Bethany's in Mississippi and a bunch of curly haired cousins!
